WebP to PNG converter
Convert WebP images to lossless PNG files, with transparency kept, for apps that don’t support WebP.
PNG is lossless, so there is no quality setting.
Images are only ever made smaller, never enlarged. Aspect ratio is kept.
Why convert
When to turn WebP into PNG
PNG is the safest choice when a WebP image has a transparent background, such as a logo, an icon or a product cut-out: PNG keeps the transparency, and every editor and design tool can open it.
Because PNG is lossless, the converted image looks exactly like the WebP and doesn’t lose quality when you edit and save it again.
Good to know
- Transparency is kept.
- Animated WebP images become a still image of the first frame.
- PNG files are larger than WebP, often by a lot for photos. For photos without transparency, WebP to JPG gives smaller files.
Need a different format, or several at once? The image converter handles JPG, PNG and WebP in any direction, and the compressor makes files smaller without changing their format.
Frequently asked questions
Is the transparent background kept?
Yes. PNG supports full transparency, so transparent and semi-transparent areas stay exactly as they are.
Why is the PNG larger than the WebP?
WebP usually compresses with a small, invisible loss of detail to save space, while PNG stores every pixel exactly. The PNG has the same quality as the WebP, in a larger and more widely supported file.
What about animated WebP files?
TinyPixr saves the first frame as a still PNG. To keep the animation, you need a tool that converts to GIF or video.
Are my images uploaded?
No. TinyPixr converts images in your browser, on your own device. They are never sent to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
Can I convert many images at once?
Yes. Add as many images as you like, by dragging them in or choosing them, then download them one by one or all together as a ZIP file.
