JPG to WebP converter
Make your website faster: convert JPG photos to WebP files that are typically a quarter to a third smaller at the same quality.
Lower means smaller files. 70–80% is hard to tell from the original.
Images are only ever made smaller, never enlarged. Aspect ratio is kept.
Why convert
When to turn JPG into WebP
WebP is an image format made for the web. According to Google, which developed it, WebP photos are typically 25–34% smaller than JPG files of comparable quality. Smaller images mean faster pages, which visitors notice and search engines reward.
All current browsers show WebP images, including Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, so it is safe to use on any website.
Good to know
- Quality starts at 80%, a good balance for photos on the web. Compare the sizes before and after, and adjust if needed.
- You can resize the images at the same time, which often saves more than the format change alone.
- Metadata such as camera details and GPS location is not copied into the new file.
Need a different format, or several at once? The image converter handles JPG, PNG and WebP in any direction, and the compressor makes files smaller without changing their format.
Frequently asked questions
How much smaller is WebP than JPG?
Google measured lossy WebP images to be 25–34% smaller than JPG images at the same visual quality. Your savings depend on the image and the quality you choose; TinyPixr shows the size before and after.
Can I use WebP in emails and documents?
Not always. Some email programs and older office software can’t show WebP. For attachments and documents, JPG is the safer choice; WebP is best for websites.
Does this work in Safari?
Safari shows WebP images, but some versions can't create WebP files from a web page. If your browser can't, TinyPixr saves a PNG instead and tells you. Chrome, Edge and Firefox create WebP files without problems.
Are my images uploaded?
No. TinyPixr converts images in your browser, on your own device. They are never sent to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
Can I convert many images at once?
Yes. Add as many images as you like, by dragging them in or choosing them, then download them one by one or all together as a ZIP file.
