WebP to JPG converter
Saved an image from a website and got a .webp file? Convert it to JPG so it opens everywhere.
Lower means smaller files. 70–80% is hard to tell from the original.
Images are only ever made smaller, never enlarged. Aspect ratio is kept.
Why convert
When to turn WebP into JPG
Many websites serve their images as WebP, because the files are small. When you save such an image, you get a .webp file, and some apps, older photo editors and upload forms still don’t accept it.
JPG works everywhere: in every photo viewer, editor, office app, social network and print service.
Good to know
- Transparent areas become white, because JPG can’t store transparency.
- Animated WebP images become a still image of the first frame.
- Quality starts at 85%, which looks the same as the original for almost every image.
Need a different format, or several at once? The image converter handles JPG, PNG and WebP in any direction, and the compressor makes files smaller without changing their format.
Frequently asked questions
Why do images from websites save as WebP?
Websites use WebP because it makes pages load faster: WebP files are smaller than JPG or PNG files of the same quality. Your browser shows them like any other image, but the saved file keeps the WebP format.
Can I open WebP files without converting them?
Often, yes: browsers, current versions of Windows and macOS, and most recent image editors open WebP. Converting helps with older software and with websites or forms that only accept JPG or PNG.
Should I convert to JPG or PNG?
JPG for photos and anything that should stay small. PNG if the image has a transparent background you want to keep, or consists of sharp text and lines.
Are my images uploaded?
No. TinyPixr converts images in your browser, on your own device. They are never sent to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
Can I convert many images at once?
Yes. Add as many images as you like, by dragging them in or choosing them, then download them one by one or all together as a ZIP file.
