PNG to JPG converter

Turn PNG images into smaller JPG files that every app and website accepts. Add several at once; nothing is uploaded.

Save as
90%

Lower means smaller files. 70–80% is hard to tell from the original.

Size

Images are only ever made smaller, never enlarged. Aspect ratio is kept.

Why convert

When to turn PNG into JPG

PNG is lossless, which makes it perfect for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges. Photos saved as PNG, however, are often several times larger than they need to be. JPG compresses photographic images far better, and every app, website and upload form accepts it.

Converting makes sense when a site asks for a JPG, when an email attachment is too large, or when you have photos or photo-heavy screenshots stored as PNG.

Good to know

  • Transparent areas become white, because JPG can't store transparency.
  • Quality starts at 90%, which keeps text in screenshots crisp. Lower it for smaller files.
  • For flat graphics, logos and simple screenshots, PNG is often the smaller format. TinyPixr shows the size before and after, so you can compare.

Need a different format, or several at once? The image converter handles JPG, PNG and WebP in any direction, and the compressor makes files smaller without changing their format.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my JPG bigger than the PNG?

This happens with simple graphics: screenshots of text, logos, charts and illustrations with large areas of one color. PNG compresses those very efficiently, while JPG is made for photos. Keep such images as PNG, or try WebP.

What happens to a transparent background?

JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. To keep a transparent background, convert PNG to WebP instead, or keep the PNG.

Does converting to JPG lose quality?

A little, because JPG is a lossy format. At the default 90% quality the difference is very hard to see. Lower settings give smaller files, with more visible blur around sharp edges and text.

Are my images uploaded?

No. TinyPixr converts images in your browser, on your own device. They are never sent to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page.

Can I convert many images at once?

Yes. Add as many images as you like, by dragging them in or choosing them, then download them one by one or all together as a ZIP file.
